Here’s what’s happening in our area this weekend.
The Occoquan Merchants Guild is hosting Occoquan Holiday Open House complete with raffle and tree lighting Friday evening from 4 to 8 pm.
Kick-off the holiday season at the annual Tree Lighting Ceremony in Old Town Alexandria this Saturday from 6 to 8 pm. Enjoy performances by the Metropolitan School of the Arts and T.C. Williams High School Adavnces Choir. Santa and Mrs. Claus will also available for pictures.
Sample a variety of hard ciders at the Alexandria Cider Festival this Saturday from 1 to 5 pm at the Lloyd House. Admission includes a souvenir glass, live music, and tastings. Tickets are $45 advance puchase or $55 at the door. Designated driver tickets are also available for $20. Minimum age to attend is 21. This is an outdoor event.
Friendship Firehouse in Old Town Alexandria is hosting Kid’s Krafts this Saturday from 10am to 1pm. Participants will get to make take-home decorations inspired by early firefighting. This event is recommended for ages 5-8. The cost is $5 per child, $2 per adult.
Ongoing Seasonal Activities
Bull Run Festival of Lights – Centreville, VA. Drive through 2.5 miles of festive lights. Visit the holiday village afterwards for rides, refreshements, and a visit with Santa. Cost ranges from $20 - $25 per vehicle.
Meadowlark Winter Walk of Lights – Vienna, VA. View the botanical gardens tranformed into a half-mile walk of lights. Warm up afterwards with hot beverage and smores that are available for purchase. Admission is $14.50 per adult, $8 kids 2 to 12. Timed tickets are required.
Ice and Light the Winter Village at Cameron Run – Alexandria, VA. Enjoy iceskating and beautiful lights. Pizza and donuts are available for purchase. General admission is $ 5 per person. Ice skating is $8 per person and skate rental is $4.
